Transfer Window Roundup - Part 1!

 HAKIM ZIYECH

Sid:
Chelsea confirmed in February itself that Ziyech will be moving to London and for a total of 40 million Pounds and in doing so, became the first signing for Chelsea after their transfer ban and in a way a very important one too as he had to replace Willian and is crucial in the rebuild that Frank Lampard has initiated.

Aayush:
Ajax did a deal with Chelsea worth 44 million for the transfer of Hakim Ziyech. Chelsea fought hard to turn the two-window transfer ban and succeeded but failed to make any transfers in the January transfer window. Frank Lampard was chasing Ziyech in January to add some creativity to his team after the departure of Eden Hazard. Chelsea secured the deal, and the 26-year-old joined Chelsea on July 1.

JUDE BELLINGHAM

Sid:
Dortmund continued their transfer policy of buying young players and this time their eyes landed on the 17-year-old midfielder from Birmingham City, Jude Bellingham. Dortmund signed him from Birmingham for apparently 25 million which resulted in him becoming the most expensive 17-year-old ever and also saw his Number 22 being retired at Birmingham City to "remember one of our own and inspire others."

Aayush:
Bellingham was being linked with Manchester United for a long time but opted to join Dortmund. According to Sky Sports, Dortmund signed him for 25 million, making him the most expensive 17-year-old. It was revealed that Bellingham signed for Dortmund instead of United as Dortmund promised him some first-team play. I think that Bellingham is going to stay on Ole's radar and will be contacted by United again! Bellingham's family were given a tour of the Carrington training ground in March but, he signed for Dortmund anyways. As Bellingham will be playing for a bigger club, he will be noticed by many big ones!

NATHAN AKE

Sid:
Manchester City's defence was torn apart and thrown in a corner last season as Vincent Kompany had just left and Laporte sidelined for the majority of the season and this time they knew what they had to do and they did by sweeping up rivals Manchester United's transfer target for 41 million Pounds. A little overprice considering he will be the second choice behind Laporte but that what Man City is about.

Aayush:
Manchester City announced the signing of Bournemouth's Nathan Ake for a fee of 41 million pounds. Ake signed a 5-year contract with the Blues. Bournemouth relegated last season but, Ake did not make a mistake, which led to a goal. That is something which Manchester City definitely needs. Ake threatens clubs with his free-kicks and corners as well; he scored 2 goals last season.

PIERRE-EMILE HOJBERG

Sid:
Spurs first signing of the season and an important one too as Jose Mourinho aims to complete his promise of winning trophies for Tottenham and it seems like he will fulfil it but he needed his players and he did get the youngest ever player to play for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, Hojberg for around 15 million Pounds.

Aayush:
Tottenham Hotspur completed the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojberg from Southampton. Spurs have paid 15 million pounds(excluding bonus), and the player has signed a 4-year contract with the club. It was Jose Mourinho's first signing of the season as he was looking to replenish his squad for the ongoing season. This deal made Kyle Walker-Peters move to Southampton after spending halfyear at St Mary's last season.

DAVID SILVA

Sid:
After 10 years at Manchester City, David Silva parted ways with the club to go back home to Spain and signed for Real Sociedad for free as his contract had come to an end. David Silva might not be the best player in the league but his presence and leadership are crucial for Sociedad which can already be seen as they sit on the 3rd spot in La Liga and also look like serious contenders for a European spot.

Aayush: Real Sociedad confirmed the shocking signing of David Silva. The 34 years old signed a 2-year deal, which goes to 2022. Earlier, it looked like it was going to be Lazio for him. And the announcement was so shocking that Real Sociedad's website crashed as people got eager about it. The former Valencia player has now returned to La Liga after completing 10-years with City.

JOE HART

Sid:
After signing Hojberg, the signing of Joe hart looked very random and weird for Spurs due to the fact that Joe Hart has been struggling to find a club since leaving Manchester City but they say that one's man trash is another man's treasure where Mourinho signed a player that Guardiola did think was good enough for him. Spurs got him for free on a two-year deal to play as their third-choice keeper. Imagine Guardiola's face if he keeps a clean sheet against Man City.

Aayush:
Joe Hart completed his unprecedented move to Tottenham after Hojberg. It was revealed that Tottenham was looking for a backup goalkeeper for Hugo Lloris. Hart was a bench warmer at Burnel in the 2018-19 season, he left the club in summer. After Hart was forced out of City by Pep Guardiola in 2016, he has had mixed spells at Torino, West Ham, and Turf Moor. He is back in the Premier League for another 2 years and will be a competitor for Lloris.

WILLIAN

Sid:
Willian's time at Chelsea had come to an end and after years at the club, Willian moved on a free transfer to rivals Arsenal in a three-year deal after 8 years at Chelsea. People made fun of Arsenal and Willian but he hit back on his haters in his first game for Arsenal itself by getting 3 assists and Arsenal might be hoping there is much more left in him.

Aayush:
Arsenal confirmed the signing of Willian after he departed from Chelsea; the 32-year-old Brazillian has signed a three year deal with Mikel Arteta. He announced his departure after 7 years at Chelsea due to the termination of his contract. Chelsea was ready to offer Willian a 2 yeard deal but, Willian wanted a 3-year one, and he got it at Arsenal.

JAN VERTONGHEN

Sid:
Vertonghen has snubbed Arsenal for Tottenham in 2012 and after 8 years and over 300 appearances which saw him create a formidable duo with fellow Belgian Alderweireld, Vertonghen parted ways after his contract with Spurs had ended and joined Portuguese side Benfica for free on a three-year deal and where he is most likely to retire after his contract runs out.

Aayush:
I think Sid covered pretty much everything!

THIAGO SILVA

Sid:
At 36 years of age, it looked like Thiago Silva's career had come to a great end after managing to captain his side into their first-ever Champions League final, but there was a bit more left for him to do as he switched to the Premier League after 8 years in Paris. Silva's current contract is of one year with an option for him to extend for another and would be a great asset for Chelsea as long as he stays.

Aayush:
It was being said that Chelsea needs to sign some defenders and, it looks like it happened so fast. PSG's captain has now joined Chelsea too. Chelsea signed some exciting combinations, but the addition of Sarr and Silva makes a lot of sense. Silva brings experience and calmness with him, and he has shown against Bayern that he can still perform at the highest level. Sarr will learn a lot from Silva!

RODRIGO

Sid:
Leeds had just been promoted to the Premier League and in order to match the level, blasted their transfer record to sign Rodrigo from Valencia for 27 million Euros on a 4-year deal and it looks like the deal has already started to pay off after Rodrigo scored an equaliser for Leeds against Man City last week to take one point home for his team.

Aayush:
Rodrigo was the 7th signing of Leeds in this window; the Spaniard has joined Bielsa at a club-record signing of 30 million euros. Rodrigo will join 6 other new arrivals: Illan Meslier, Joe Geldhardt, Helder Costa, Charlie Allen, Cody Drameh, and Sam Greenwood.

MATT DOHERTY

Sid:
Matt Doherty switched teams in the Premier League to add up for another Spurs signing. Mourinho felt the need for a right-back after Trippier joined Atletico Madrid last season and Kyle Walker-Peters moved to Southampton this year and he found his target in the 28-year-old Irish and former Arsenal fan with the proof of the latter being deleted by Doherty in a video that Tottenham released.

Aayush:
Tottenham sealed right-back Doherty from Wolves for a fee of 14.7 million pounds. The 28-year-old signed a 4-year deal and took the No: 2 jerseys. Tottenham was looking for a right-back after Kyle Walker-Peters departed.

DONNY VAN DE BEEK

Sid:
Ajax already sold one player to Chelsea and  United picked up Van De Beek as their first signing of the new season for over 40 million Pounds including add ons on a five-year deal where he decided to wear the number 34 in honour of his friend Abdelhak Nouri, who went into a coma in 2017. Van De Beek even scored on his debut for United coming off the bench even though United ended up losing that game.

Aayush:
It took a while, but United confirmed the signing of Don Van de Beek from Ajax. United was keen to sign Van De Beek as he was attracting some other clubs as well!

TIMOTHY CASTAGNE

Sid:
Massive in Atalanta's breakthrough season last year, Castagne caught Leicester's eyes and signed for the 2016 Premier League winners for around 20 million Pounds on a five-year deal. Castagne has already settled in England with 2 assists and 1 goal in 4 games and judging on the way he is playing, there is a lot more to come from him in the future.

Aayush;
Leicester confirmed the signing of Timothy Castagne from Atalanta. The Belgian left-back was brought to replace Ben Chilwell and has signed a 5-year deal.

KAI HAVERTZ

Sid:
Chelsea's biggest signing this season, Havertz moved to Stamford Bridge for 71 million Pounds including add ons after a stellar performance for Leverkusen in Bundesliga. Havertz already has a hat trick to his name along with an assist and although Lampard would have to take another look at his tactics to fit Havertz in the team, Chelsea has landed a huge star with a lot of potential going forward.

Aayush:
Chelsea confirmed the signing of Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen. He has signed a 5-year contract. The deal was for 80 million euros + 10 million add-ons + 10 million euros if he does something big like winning the champions league.

ALLAN

Sid:
Carlo Ancelotti let his engines loose in the transfer market and picked up Allan from Napoli for over 21 million Pounds as his first signing. Allan seems to have at the right time and at the right cost at Everton as they currently sit at the top of the table with 4 out of 4 wins and face rivals Liverpool next after the international break.

Aayush:
Tottenham bought Allan from Napoli at a price of 25 million pounds.

FABIO SILVA

Sid:
Wolves smashed their transfer record as well to sign a Portuguese player which was no surprise but what was surprising was that it was an 18-year-old Fabio Silva who joined Wolves from Porto where he became the club's youngest player in all European competitions, youngest started in any competition, youngest goalscorer and youngest league goal scorer and also the youngest starter in the club's history.

Aayush:
Wolves broke their transfer record to sign the highly-rated Fabio Silva. He was bought for 40 million euros in a 5-year contract to expand the Portuguese team Wolves. Nuno Espirito Santo wished to sign him. He has been previously linked with clubs like Real Madrid and Liverpool as well. This deal makes him the seventh most expensive teenager in the world.

NELSON SEMEDO

Sid:
Following the departure of Doherty, Wolves replaced him with yet another Portuguese player, Nelson Semedo, who Wolves signed from Barcelona for almost 28 million pounds. Semedo even played his first game for the club last week after joining just 4 days before the game was scheduled although his debut ended in a defeat, he started this week as well in a one-goal win over Fulham.

Aayush:
Wolves completed the signing of Semedo from Barca for a 3-year deal. Semedo arrived at a price of 32.2 million pounds. Semedo was welcomed at Wolves and has an option to extend the contract for 2 more years.

IVAN RAKITIC

Sid:
After having issues with Barcelona for over a year, Rakitic decided to go back to the club from where Barcelona signed him in the first place, Sevilla. Wearing the number 10 for the Europa League winners, Rakitic scored his first goal since his return in added time against Cadiz and also played against Barcelona this week in a 1-1 draw at Camp Nou.

Aayush:
Sevilla signed Ivan Rakitic for just 1.5 million euros. Rakitic has already spent 3 years at Sevilla before joining Barca in 2014.

CALLUM WILSON

Sid:
After Bournemouth got relegated last season, Wilson chose to switch to Newcastle United who signed him for a fee that is undisclosed but is said to be around 20 million pounds. Teammate Ryan Fraser had also moved to Newcastle the same day itself although Ryan Fraser signed for free after his contract at Bournemouth had expired.

Aayush:
Newcastle has confirmed the signing of Callum-Wilson from Bournemouth. Wilson joins on a four-year deal.

TIMO WERNER

Sid:
Another young German to sign for Chelsea. Timo Werner moved to London after Chelsea paid Leipzig around 50 million pounds for the 24-year-old. Werner has scored no goals till now in the Premier League and fans would be hoping to see him get his first after the International break although he has scored in the Carabao Cup against Spurs which Chelsea ended up losing.

Aayush:
Chelsea confirmed the transfer of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig this summer. Timo Wener has joined the club for 47.5 million pounds and a salary of 170k(per week). He is an addition to Lampard's attacking options. Chelsea beat Liverpool to buy Werner and Marina Granovskaia revealed that she was very excited to see him.

ALEX TELLES

Sid:
It took United the whole transfer window but in the end, they finally managed to get at least one of their actual transfer target and for only 18 million pounds is a great deal for Telles. Telles would be a massive upgrade for the team especially after recent defensive performances by United have shown how much they need a new defence.
Aayush:
Alex Telles is now a Manchester United player. The club has made an official announcement after transfer guru Fabrizio Romano's confirmation. He has signed a 4 year deal with United; the 15 million contracts to bring this Brazilian to Old Trafford shows excellent business! His market price is more than 30 million and has been on the top in the Portuguese league. Telles already has 2 assists in 3games for Porto in the ongoing season. He is also a good penalty taker! His arrival means competition for Luke Shaw!

ERIC MAXIM CHOUPO-MOTING

Sid:
A very surprising transfer saw Champions League finalist Choupo-Moting sign for Champions League winners Bayern Munich in a free move and the only possible reason behind it is to increase the squad depth at Bayern seeing that Lewandowski's backup options are Arp and Zirkzee. If it is good enough for Bayern, then it is good enough for the result of us.

Aayush:
The incredible career path of a wandering striker continues. He is now moving from Bayern after spending an underwhelming 2 years at PSG. He was available as a free agent and has signed a 1 year deal with Bayern. He has previously played for 4 Bundesliga clubs: Hamburg, Nurnberg, Mainz, and Schalke. Bayern was looking for a backup striker for Robert Lewandoski and they chose him.

EDINSON CAVANI

Sid:
Manchester United have signed another player on the deadline day. Edison Cavani signs for United on a one-year contract and will be wearing the apparently cursed Number 7 during this time. Cavani was neither what United needed nor was he their top priority but still became the latest addition to their squad and hopefully a more effective one on the pitch given that he is now 33 years old.

Aayush:
United announced the signing of this elite striker agreeing to a one year deal as a free agent with an option to extend another year. Cavani becomes United's fourth signing on the last day of the transfer window.

FEDERICO CHIESA

Sid:
With Douglas Costa moving to Bayern on a loan, Juventus almost instantly replaced him with 22-year-old Chiesa from Fiorentina on a loan deal with an option to buy for 50 million Euros. Chiesa is a great prospect and the loan can really help decide his future and potential at Juventus and whether or not the Italian is the right fit for them.

Aayush:
Chiesa's transfer to Juventus is now official. The Italian player joins on an initial 2 season deal with an obligation to buy him. Juventus will pay 10 million euros, Juventus will pay 60 million if Chiesa scores 10 or assists 10 or if Juventus lands in the top 4 which is easily achievable.
