LaLiga Matchday 3 - Review!

Alaves vs Getafe

Sid:
There were no expectations from either side and that is what happened. I had expected a draw but not a goalless one. Both teams might be disappointed for dropping points but on the other hand, even a single point can decide whether you get relegated or not, especially for teams like Alaves and Getafe.

Videep:
A dull La Liga game, where there wasn't a lot to report, Deportivo Alaves were held to a 0-0 draw against Getafe. I would have expected Getafe to continue on after their 3 points in the opening matchday.

Valencia vs Huesca

Sid:
There is not much left in Valencia at this point. There are players like Wass and Jose Gaya but they won't be enough for Valencia who aim for European qualification every year. The best Valencia can do now is to manage a top ten finish and focus on their finances.

Videep:
A game I really feel Valencia should have won. They have always been one of the frontrunners to qualify for at least one of the two European competitions. A stalemate game against Huesca is not the result they should really be content with.

Elche vs Real Sociedad

Sid:
Sociedad have had a good start to their campaign, a draw against Real Madrid and now three points away from home against newly promoted Elche. Personally I am delighted that David Silva is doing well and no doubt he will be an key aspect in their squad as hope to contend for a European spot.

Videep:
Newly promoted Elche was given a taste of life in the La Liga when David Silva's new team, Real Sociedad scored 3 past them in a game that was fairly dominated by the visiting team. A fairly content game, with not many surprises.

Real Betis vs Real Madrid

Sid:
A controversial game said to be in favour of Real Madrid, Valverde scored first and continued to show his potential as Betis struck twice to take the lead but Emerson then ended up scoring an own goal in the second half and then got sent off as well and later on Ramos scored his 24th consecutive penalty to take three points home for his team as Madrid looks to win the La Liga once again.

Videep:
Betis was on the lead at halftime and would have looked to keep the scoreline that way; Emerson's 48th-minute own goal gave Real Madrid their equaliser and captain, Sergio Ramos put them in the lead with an 82nd-minute penalty. Real Madrid were favourites before the game as reigning champions, and the penalty ensured that they're in to retain the title for this season.

Osasuna vs Levante

Sid:
Osasuna drew first blood only to concede minutes later as two goals later in the game by Roger Marti and Morales saw Levante win away from home after suffering a loss on opening day. Levante would be hoping to have a top ten finish after finishing 12th last season.

Videep:
Levante came down from a goal to win it late away from home. Osasuna started the game on a positive, eventually scoring before the 40-minute mark, only for Gonzalo Melero to equalise three minutes later. Roger Marti and Luis Morales scored in quick successions in the 77th and 81st minutes, respectively, to take a 2-goal advantage and the three points home.

Eibar vs Athletic Club

Sid:
Athletic Club saw a late goal from Unai Lopez which won them three points from this game after Lopez scored the first goal of the game as well. Bilbao had the advantage from this game and they made sure that they did not drop crucial points from a comparatively easier game.

Videep:
Unai Lopez scored a brace to win the game for Athletic Club in the late 80-minute mark. Athletic Club was the team expected to win this clash pre-game, but Eibar certainly gave them a run for their money in a very closely contested game.

Atletico Madrid vs Granada

Sid:
Luis Suarez might not play with Messi anymore but he still has a lot left in him as he scored twice and assisted once after coming off the bench in the 70th minute for his debut game for Atletico Madrid who looks to compete for the league title this season after a scoring 6 goals in their opening game itself although Oblak would have been happier if they kept the clean sheet. Diego Costa seems to be very happy with Suarez coming to Atletico as has said that now Atletico has someone who can kick and someone who can bite.

Videep:
Luis Suarez had a debut to remember as he scored twice and assisted once against Granada. Diego Costa scored the only goal of the first half in the 9th-minute and Angel Correa, Joao Felix, Marcos Llorente and Luis Suarez all scored in the second half to make it 6. Jorge Molina was the sole goalscorer for the visiting side. A win for Atletico was always expected, but such a dominant one wasn't.

Cadiz vs Sevilla

Sid:
It looked like Sevilla were about to drop points but late goals by El Haddadi and Rakitic made sure that the current Europa League champions took three points home even after conceding first in the game as Sevilla aims for qualifying for the Europa League yet again even though they might be able to qualify for the Champions League and then go on to win the Europa League as well.

Videep:
Sevilla scored late twice to come back from their midweek loss against Bayern to win 3-1 again Cadiz. Though it was the home team that struck first just three minutes into the second half, goals from Luuk De Jong, El Haddadi and Ivan Rakitic gave the visiting side a deserving win after a dominant performance.

Real Valladolid vs Celta Vigo

Sid:
Iago Aspas gave Celta Vigo the lead just before half time but Guardiola scored from the spot to salvage a point for his team in a much closer game although Celta Vigo had a very slight advantage on paper but that advantage was levelled from the fact that it was a away game for Celta Vigo and the match went the way that people expected it to go.

Videep:
In a fairly contested match that could have gone either way, it took a 66th-minute penalty from Sergi Guardiola to rescue a point from the encounter. Pre-game, a draw would have been the right result from the game.

Barcelona vs Villareal

Sid:
Barcelona spent a lot of money and time trying to find Neymar's replacement everywhere and it looks like they have found him in their very own Ansu Fati who scored 2 goals in the space of 4 minutes itself to give Barcelona an early lead before Messi scored from the spot and an own goal before half time wrapped up the game for Barcelona. Messi and Koeman would be having high aims and hopes this season after what happened last year and this result reflects what they aim for this year.

Videep:
A dominant Barca win - one that should have been expected since they would want to win back the title after losing it in the end last season. Youngster Ansu Fati scored a brace, Lionel Messi got on the scoresheet and Phillippe Coutinho looked his prolific self.
