Premier League MD32
Premier League
MD32 started with Aston Villa hosting the Wanderers at Villa Park as the relegation battle intensifies with each passing week. It was a relatively dull game with Wolves pulling clear at the 62nd minute and the game ending 1-0. Aston Villa needs a couple of results to go their way in the coming weeks if they are to avoid the drop, which at this stage seems quite unlikely.
Watford hosting Southampton was an anticipated fixture as both teams have been in decent form regardless of their respective positions in the table. The game saw the Saints score 4 goals, though one of those for Watford as Jan Bednarek's 79th minute saw Watford get away with a consolation goal with the game ending 3-1. Danny Ings scoring continued as he is now only one goal away from the Golden Boot top scorer chart.
Crystal Palace played Burnley, with the latter continuing their dream run in the top ten. Crystal Palace dropped all three points at home when Ben Mee netted the only goal of the game in the 62nd minute. Palace fell down to the 12th spot and Burnley rose up to the 9th after the final whistle.
Bruno Fernandes stole the show against Brighton as he scored his first Premier League brace when Manchester United saw off Brighton 3-0 away from home. Wonderkid Mason Greenwood scored the opener with an assist from Aaron Wan-Bissaka. He later went on to assist the third goal for the team by setting up Bruno's second of the game. Pogba assisted Bruno's first goal. Brighton can still get relegated if Villa and Bournemouth get positive results in their next few results. Manchester United intensified the race for the top 4 after their win. The game also saw Bruno Fernandes reveal the potion powering his good luck lately - a bottle of milk.
Newcastle scored 4 against relegation-threatened Bournemouth to put them under more misery than they were. The hosts got a 94th-minute consolation when Dan Gosling scored a Nathan Ake assist. Saint-Maximin scored once and assisted twice, too.
It seems almost impossible that Norwich will be playing their second consecutive season in the Premier League after their 4-0 loss against Arsenal. Hector Bellerin, on the other hand, will be seen planting more trees after he announced he would do so after every positive Arsenal result. The game also saw Cedric Soares score his first Arsenal goal.
Leicester have failed to continue their pre-pandemic form and Everton proceeded to take advantage of that by beating them 2-1. Richarlison seems to be the cherry on top for an average-looking Everton side as he put them ahead in the 10th minute. Sigurdson showed his class by doubling the lead in the 16th minute. Leicester seems too vulnerable at the moment and the same vulnerability might see them get dropped from the European spots.
West Ham pulled off a shocking last-minute win against London rivals Chelsea, who were celebrating a win over Manchester City just last week. Willian scored by a penalty and a free-kick for both goals against the Hammers and Yarmolenko score in the 89th minute to win 3-2. The win sees West Ham get a breath as they are off the relegation zone by two points, while the loss saw Chelsea uncertainty for the Champions League next season.
Sheffield United will host Tottenham and the last game of the matchday will see the newly crowned Champions of England being hosted by the ex-champions, where Liverpool visit City in the game of the weekend.
